Magical Eye 3D Stereograms!

That's right! Who needs to stare at a 2 dimensional image all day long on their computer anyway? Now that we have stereograms we can see in 3D! I wish I could explain how the entire created a stereogram process works, but I can't. Here's my first stab at what I'm calling, the three tierd checker board of fun.

Hey, Drawing Pays Off

I like art. I like to draw art. I like getting paid to draw art.

Good news! I recently entered a t-shirt design contest on http://www.shirt.woot.com/. And to my suprise, I took first place! Wow! You love me, you really love me.

My winning entry, Ghost and Pumpkin, also called Pac-o-lantern, was created using inkscape.

Nano Nano Here

Apple, the iPod king recently gave it's iPod lineup a face lift. The iPod nano probably saw the biggest share of improvements. It now has a 2" screen, plays video, and comes in some new colors. I don't own an iPod. And I probably never will own one. But, despite this little snag, I just completed a rendering of the new iPod. I wanted something easy, hip, and mostly gray to draw. Hence, the iPod.

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I added myself and DFP as the "now playing" song. I used a photo of the iPod nano for reference, but everything was drawn from scratch in Inkscape. It was fun.

It's Easy Being Green

Hey! I received a picture book for my B-day last year. It had a cool picture of a leaf with sparkling water droplets on it. So I made this picture. Nothing spectacular.

I probably should have made the leaf a less intense lime green. I'll just pretend this leaf is near a nuclear waste dump.

Here's attempt numero two. I like that this one has more color options and darker shadows. But they may be too dark and harsh.

Fire Smoke Sunset

Recent wildfires in nearby western states create a lot of haze in Utah's sky. Although this is unpleasant during the day, it makes for beautiful sunsets! Where normal sunsets stop with pinks and shades of orange, the haze lets loose setting off sunsets with dark reds and purples. I saw a sunset from atop a high mountain road overlooking a small rocky mountain city. Here's my interpretation:

Eclipse-esk

After three different sittings, I was finally able to finish watching the movie, 2001: A Space Odyssey. Plot-wise the movie doesn't make much sense. But deep meaning can be found by analyzing the presented material. Anyways, what I'm really trying to say is: the movie's visuals are amazing! Although I haven't tried to recreate any of them, it inspired me to create a piece I call, Eclipse-esk. Enjoy!

I had tons of fun creating this picture. Sure it's simple, but, I liked experimenting with different ways of lighting the moon. Also, the stars were a lot of fun (copy and paste, paste, paste).
